The Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF), is pleased to announce the launch of the WorthyWorks Award.
This award, which will be given to a not-for-profit organization, will be presented at the annual Chamber banquet to acknowledge and recognize the important contributions that not-for-profit members make to their community.
The award includes a $1,000 contribution from the WCCF to support the continuing efforts of the organization.
"Nominations for the WorthyWorks award will be accepted up to February 1, 2008," said Jennifer J. Reusser, OACC President, "and can come from any member of our community, the organization's staff, volunteers, friends, or recipients of the organizations' services."
Applicants must be members of the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce and must apply for consideration. Qualifying criteria includes commitment to the quality of life, social conscience, and betterment of the Orrville community.
"I think the chamber of commerce model of being only focused on supporting a community's commercial activity is rapidly changing," said Ferenc M. Relle, Jr., Executive Director of the WCCF. "Wayne County Chambers of Commerce are excellent examples of multi-faceted networks of community and commercial leaders working together to develop and sustain educational, economic, and social service opportunities for its workforce and residents."
