The Wayne County Community Foundation manages over 150 scholarship funds, each with their own criteria.
Scholarships through WCCF may be used for tuition and fees (not including room and board) required for enrollment or attendance at the educational institution. Fees, books, supplies and equipment directly required for courses of instruction are eligible if they can be purchased directly from the school. If the scholarship is used for any other expense, the IRS considers it taxable income for the student.
Certain Scholarships listed below require submitting the Student Aid Report (SAR) Acknowledgment Letter for the upcoming academic year. This report comes from the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Office and is a result of completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This is a sample of the SAR. If it is required for a scholarship application, you will be asked to upload your document as a PDF before submitting the application.
If you have yet to determine which educational institution you will be attending at the time of completing the scholarship application, please list your first school of choice on the application. Changes may be made after the application is completed by contacting the Foundation at contact@wccfoh.org.
Note: If you are a recipient of a scholarship through the Wayne County Community Foundation, all monetary awards will be made payable to your account at the post-secondary school you will be or are attending. Unless otherwise stated, checks will be issued in July, prior to the new school year. No checks will be awarded directly to any individuals.
This year eight Wayne County high schools participated in the Scholarship Guide booklet that is mailed to their high school seniors in December.
The Scholarship Guide assists students and their families in obtaining scholarship information for higher education. The guide provides information for over 100 scholarships that are being awarded by foundations, corporations, governmental agencies, clubs, and other organizations on the local, regional, state, and national levels.

Applicant should demonstrate a balance among: 1) academic achievement of at least a 3.75 GPA if attending high school or at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA if attending an accredited college, university or technical school; 2) participation in extra-curricular activities; and 3) participation in community service and/or part-time employment. Preference will be given to those with the greatest financial need. If no eligible students from Congress Community Church qualify, then the scholarship will be available to any Northwestern High School graduating senior, based on the criteria listed above. Eligibility: Scholarship is available to adult students pursuing a credentialed career training program leading to a career with a "living wage". Applicants should have a demonstrated financial need. Preference shall be given to ABLE or Adult Education students or graduates. This is a one-time award. Eligibility: Available for continuing education in the industrial arts technology or related fields with preference towards those wanting to further their skills in precision machining technology. Applicants must be Wayne County residents who are graduating high school seniors or adults enrolled in an accredited skills training program. Applicants must have a sincere desire to increase their technical skill levels, demonstrate aptitude in Industrial Arts technology or want to pursue the opportunity to enter this field, and have financial need. Full-time students will qualify for 100% of the scholarship and part-time students will qualify for 50% of the scholarship amount. Eligibility: A student who graduated from a Wayne County high school or has lived in Wayne County for three years. The student must be pursuing a degree as a Licensed Practitioner Nurse, Registered Nurse, speech, physical or occupational therapist. Eligibility: Wooster High School graduate, whose post high school education was interrupted and has not yet earned their degree. The applicant must either be enrolling in or be a student in good standing of an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school on a full time basis. Eligibility: A Boy Scout, who is a resident of Wayne County, Ohio or a resident of the Killbuck District (which includes Wayne County and Holmes County, Ohio). Boy Scouts outside of Wayne County, Ohio of the Buckeye Council, Boys Scouts of America, may apply, but Wayne County, Ohio residents shall have priority and shall receive the scholarship first if otherwise qualified. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or student already enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate or two year technical college student, who has proof of an Eagle Scout rank or Life Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
