Youth Foundation Graduates: Over $7,500 Granted to Area Nonprofits

Wayne County Community Youth Foundation 2017-2018Wayne County Community Youth Foundation (WCCYF) wrapped up its fifth year in May with the graduation of 42 students representing 10 area high schools. Under the advisement of Ferenc M. Relle, Jr., WCCYF gives local youth a voice in providing financial and human resources to projects and programs benefiting youth in Wayne County. Throughout the academic year, members meet monthly – gaining valuable leadership experience while learning more about local charitable giving and the nonprofit organizations serving Wayne County.

Members distributed $7,723 in grants to projects and programs serving our local youth. The following organizations received grants from WCCYF:

  • Akron Canton Regional FoodBank ($1,000)
  • Wooster Hope Center ($1,000)
  • St. James Episcopal Church Free Meal Program ($723)
  • Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio ($2,030)
  • Boys and Girls Club of Wooster ($1,600)
  • Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio ($750)
  • Rails to Trails of Wayne County ($620)

In addition to financial support, members of the Youth Foundation also participated in several community service projects Members volunteered at the County Line Trail Rainbow Run in Creston, did landscaping and various maintenance projects for Viola Startzman Free Clinic in Wooster, and refinished a deck for Central American Medial Outreach (CAMO) in Orrville.
