The Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF) in conjunction with local private foundations established the Wayne County Emergency Response Fund in March 2020 to support local non-profit organizations on the front line of COVID-19 response efforts.
Previously, sixteen (16) local non-profit organizations received grants $75,768.
WCCF is pleased to announce that additional grants totaling $39,707 have been awarded to:
A Whole Community, Inc. received a $5,000 grant for their Community Food Project.
American Red Cross-Wayne County received a $3,000 grant to continue COVID-19 Antibody Testing for Wayne County blood donors.
Friendship Meals Inc. received a $4,000 grant to to purchase food, take out containers and supplies.
Orrville Mennonite Church, Inc. received a $4,000 grant to upgrade kitchen facilities used in weekly free Monday Meals program.
Vantage Aging received a $7,500 grant to support Wayne County Meals on Wheels.
Wayne County Fire & Rescue Association received a $15,000 grant to support continuing operations of Fire and EMS Training.
Wooster City Schools received a $1,207 grant for the purchase and installation of a water bottle filling station at Kean Elementary.
The WCCF is a not-for-profit charitable community organization established in 1978 to accept contributions, create and administer funds, and make grants for the benefit of the people of the greater Wayne County area. Since 1978, the Foundation has awarded more than $94.5 million in the form of grants and scholarships from its 485 separate funds.
The Wayne County Emergency Response Fund was established to provide a limited number of one-time grants to nonprofit organizations addressing the emerging needs of the community – including, but not limited to, support for lost wages, housing security, food security, and expanding access to medical services. To date, $115,475 has been awarded to support COVID-19 response efforts.
